What is a Cause Club?
Cause Clubs function like traditional book clubs but marry novels with social purpose. Each chosen novel connects to a nonprofit organization in the Fredericksburg area related to its themes. Members will have an opportunity to read great books and engage in conversation about important topics.
What type of books will be selected for Cause Clubs?
Novels that address important topics like mental health, cancer, LBGTQ+, grief, addiction, etc. will be selected for these clubs.
Why Cause Club?
Through these book clubs, the hope is to build empathy and understanding of topics that can be difficult to discuss. The idea is that those who participate will grow from the stories and conversations.

Our next Cause Club is April 9th from 6-8 PM at 212 William Street FXBG.
April is National Month of Hope
Because of that, we selected Fairy Godmother Project, a local organization that brings hope to families facing all phases of a pediatric cancer diagnosis to be our beneficiary of our Cause Club.
Andie, Novel’s owner, started FGP in 2012. As you can imagine, the cause, organization and families served hold a huge place in her heart. She learned so much about life and love while in the role of executive director. She witnessed parents faced with difficult decisions and realized that we really have no idea what we would do in a situation until we are in it. After the End by Clare Mackintosh was selected because of those experiences in a hope to raise awareness about childhood cancer, the experience of the family and the doctors and to open up conversation around this topic.
